This app was developed to share everyday moments with your loved ones through invite-only video albums.

What we aimed to create was an experience where "capturing a moment allows you to enjoy it more deeply."

With the advancement of smartphone camera technology, we can now take countless photos and videos every day. However, we often find ourselves so absorbed in shooting that we fail to fully savor the moments unfolding right in front of us.

To address this, we established a rule of 9 recordings per day, each lasting 9 seconds. This "just right" limitation allows users to focus on fully enjoying the moment without becoming overly preoccupied with filming. The recorded videos are instantly shared with invited members, enabling everyone to catch glimpses of each other's daily lives.

The Live Activity feature on the lock screen allows you to launch the camera directly without opening the app. It's so unobtrusive that you might forget it's there.

On the home screen widget, past highlights are displayed randomly, and you can view videos taken nearby. These features significantly lower the barrier to preserving memories.

Memories shape us

Memories are a vital part of shaping our lives. However, the photos and videos we capture daily often end up forgotten, buried in our smartphones.

The kyu app has a feature that automatically stitches together your saved videos and creates highlight reels with music. Memories captured from different perspectives using the kyu camera or kyu app can be compiled into a highlight video with just one tap.

It might not be the most creative video that others would envy, but it’s more than enough to revisit your memories.

Additionally, once a month, a "Monthly Highlight" is automatically generated by randomly selecting and combining clips from all your videos. The unexpected mix of scenes might lead to surprising discoveries or a wave of nostalgia.

The scoring feature also visualizes how many memories you’ve preserved over time.

Moreover, all these precious memories are stored in the cloud, allowing you to revisit them anytime without worrying about additional fees.

Just-Enough is the key

The kyu app is not a social network for sharing with the general public. By adopting an invite-only album format, we’ve created a space where you can safely share special moments and everyday life with only those who truly matter to you.

When considering updates, the features we *choose not to include* are just as important as the ones we do. For example, we don’t provide tools for pursuing or expressing creativity or artistry. There’s also no endless scrolling feed filled with content designed to unnecessarily stir emotions.

The ability to add your favorite music to highlight reels was implemented as a "necessary and sufficient" feature to add deeper meaning to your memories.

Only what’s needed, and nothing more. It’s the accumulation of these deliberate choices that shapes the experience we aim to create.
